Order Fulfillment over the Holidays…
Online sellers and ecommerce companies are all approaching their busiest time of year. Sales were up nearly 20% from 2010 to 2011 during the holiday season and all are expecting another huge increase for 2012 holiday season. These increased sales means increased shipments for order fulfillment companies all around the US.
Allpack Fulfillment a national fulfillment company nearly quadruples our daily shipments from the middle of November through the Christmas season. I would imagine other fulfillment companies experience a similar spike in orders as well. This does create several challenges for Allpack Fulfillment that we are prepared for and is just a normal part of our busy season.
One of the basic things that we do is to make sure that we stock enough shipping supplies to handle the added order volume. This includes the following materials: shipping cartons, bubble envelopes, labels, tape and packing materials that we stock up on all in advance of the holiday boom.
Another key component to Black Friday preparedness is having an organized and efficient fulfillment system in place. Our order fulfillment system is designed for both online sellers and our warehouse workers to easily manage high order counts and the extra volume.
Package carriers go under many changes as well. Extra shifts of workers sort and deliver packages around the clock. We schedule extra pick ups and work late with all of our carriers.
